Nephi, UT (May 22, 2019) – On Monday, police confirmed that one person was killed in a fatal accident involving a four-wheeler and a side-by-side in the Sand Mountain Recreation Area.
The accident took the life of a 39-year-old man from Sandy. At the time, he had been riding his four-wheeler around 1:30 p.m. when he failed to see the rider on his side-by-side in the area. The two collided, causing fatal results.
Police confirmed that the ATV rider was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. He was alone at the time of the accident but he had family members off riding in other areas around there.
The area is known for being remote and so a medical helicopter was flown into the scene around 30 minutes after authorities were notified about the serious accident.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
We would like to reach out and extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victim at this time.
